Cranial Sacral Therapy is a gentle hands on approach that releases tension deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance.

 

It incorporates a specific 10 step protocol, in which the practitioner "tunes in" to your horses Cranial Sacral Rhythm and works with soft tissue structures of the body to influence the flow of cerebral fluid between the head and the base of the spine.

There are additional techniques to receive tension in the back, mouth, TMJ and cranial bones.

Cranial Sacral can be performed as a stand alone technique, and is commonly used for horses with certain issues, such as anxiety, previous trauma (either emotional or physical), mouth, face and jaw problems. I often combine it with the other modalities and find it is especially useful for working with an animal that is apprehensive of bodywork, or this may be their first experience of it.

I am also a Reiki Master and often include these techniques both in Cranial Sacral and other sessions. Some horses respond incredibly well to energetic healing, especially if they are anxious and reluctant to participate in a hands on session. It may be necessary to be more "hands-off" with certain horses for a period of time until they are ready to move on to other methods.

I also offer an "Intro to Bodywork" session which is a shorter 30 mins session which may also be helpful for horses who need some time to get used to being touched.
